TEACHERS

Markus Kakuska and Jessica Kaiser
(Jessy & Kuschi)

This couple has come to Ukraine more than once, but they will teach for the first time in Kyiv! Just imagine, Marcus and Jessica have been dancing together since they were teenagers, and they are already the top boogie-woogie dancers in the world. Marcus and Jessica have competed in European championships, national and international competitions and won prizes. Now they are judges of boogie-woogie competitions in Austria. But the most important thing is that they really love what they do and this is reflected in every part of the bodies when they dance and on the classes where they teach. These dansers are always super fun and interesting. So do not miss the opportunity and register for classes!

Sergey (Kuva) Kovalov and Tanya Georgiievska

It is the most unexpected reunion! They used to teach together in Kyiv in 2009-2010 and laid the foundations of one of the modern methods of teaching boogie here. So meet Sergey Kovalov and Tanya Georgievska! These dancers, in our humble opinion, need no introduction. If not, just take our word for it. But we can tell a little story about their teaching tandem. So, in 2009, Tanya was looking for a partner for teaching boogie-woogie, saw Sergey's potential and offered to teach together. So they began to develop a brand new method of teaching boogie at that time in Kyiv. (In theory, Sergey should have that draft with its description :)) So the "old" Kyiv boogie-dancers will be able to get nostalgic, and the "new" ones - to get the best experience out of their classes!

Olga Smirnova

Olga is one of the founders of a retro-show "Jazz Age" and it's choreographer. And she even used to dance in a chorus line in Herrang before 2020! Olga has a great rhythm feeling, her dance language is rich and diverse, and she definitely has a lot of dance things to share. We suggest you to join the world of solo dancing and learn something new for yourself.

BONUS CLASSES

Jessy and Kushi will have two bonuses at the Friday party beginning!
1. At 20:00 - bonus class "Boogie-woogie for lindy-hop dancers": if you dance lindy, but want to understand how to move more harmoniously to the boogie beat, and understand the difference between boogie and lindy, then feel free to come to this bonus!
2. At 21:00 - bonus class "Spice your dancing": the class is ideal for those who want to participate in Jack-n-Jill competitions and want to be noticed by the judges. Our teachers from Austria will also tell and show how to spice your dance!

We are so glad that our festival will be opened by incredible RvB band  Believe us, these guys are very atmospheric and authentic. During their performance you'll feel like at a 50s party!

BONUS CLASS

Max Vanin and Olenka Rudenko will teach on a bonus class at the beginning of the Satursday's party! This couple dances lindy hop in their everyday life, but anyway they took the second place in the boogie-woogie strictly competition at OBF 2020. So on October 9 at 21:00 bonus class "Moving Freeze", where Max and Olenka will share with you one of their favorite moves: "We'll show you how to make our feature yours." 

LIVE MUSIC

Good Company are regular guests of Kyiv swing parties and bluesnights, a band created by people who really know what dancers need The band performs traditional blues and jazz, inspired by the work of delta bluesmen, soul performers, and jazz musicians of the big band era, such as Peggy Lee, Julia London, Billie Poole, Ella Fitzgerald. And attention! Especially for OBF, the lineup of Good Company has increased by three musicians!

BONUS CLASS

Another bonus class will take place on Sunday at 20:00! The class is called "Hard Triplets - Easy Steps", and the teacher will be charming dancer Tatiana Kolyada! Tanya says: "We will work on creating rhythms using eighth and quarter triplets. Through the series of exercises we will understand the difference, learn to hear and reflect. And most importantly - improvise, integrating work into basic jazz movements and transitions."

LIVE MUSIC

Also at this party we will dance to Cosy Oleksa! Music of the 50s and 60s, rhythm-n-blues and soul - just what you need for a good mood and nice dances.
